Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts (Continental Congress)

Cambridge is a city in Middlesex County, situated directly north of Boston, across the Charles River. It was originally a part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony until Middlesex County was created on 10 May 1643. It was in the Massachusetts Bay Province from 7 October 1691 until the Revolutionary War began in early October 1774, and it has been in the state of Massachusetts since the state was established on 6 February 1788.
