Salem Village, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay Province (New England)

Salem Village, now known as Danvers, is in Essex County, located on the Danvers River near the northeastern coast of Massachusetts. The town is most widely known for its association with the 1692 Salem witch trials. It was permanently settled in 1636 and incorporated on 9 June 1757, at which time the name was changed to Danvers.
