Mendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts Bay Province (New England)
Mendon was first settled in 1660 in Middlesex County. The town was moved to Suffolk County in 1671 and to Worcester County when that county was formed on 2 April 1731. The town of Mendon was originally 64 square miles and included the modern-day towns of Milford, Bellingham, Hopedale, Uxbridge, Upton, Blackstone, Northbridge and Millville. For this reason, the town of Mendon is sometimes referred to as "Mother Mendon".
