The town of Hanover, New York is located in Chautauqua County, near the Pennsylvania border, in the southwestern part of the state. It lies along the shores of Lake Erie, roughly 30 miles southwest of Buffalo. The Town, today in 2025, encompasses the Village of Silver Creek, Hamlet of Forestville, Hamlet of Irving, Hanford Bay, Sunset Bay, and Smith Mills.
