Berkeley County, Virginia
Berkeley County, originally in Virginia, is now the second oldest county in West Virginia. The county was created in Virginia by an act of the House of Burgesses in February 1772 from the northern third of Frederick County, Virginia, and became a county in West Virginia when that state was formed in 1863. At the time of the county's original formation it also consisted of the areas that make up the present-day Jefferson and Morgan counties, now also in West Virginia
