Illness*August 1912 In August 1912, Lydia Allen was seriously ill at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Emma and George Leverich, near Farrville, Grant County, Indiana, and by early September was doing better. There had been much concern for her situation because of her advanced age. She was 70 years old.8 
Death*7 July 1932She died on 7 July 1932 in Van Buren, Grant County, Indiana, at age 90.3,4 
Obituary9 July 1932Her obituary was published on 9 July 1932 in the Leader-Tribune, Marion, Grant County, Indiana, under a large title announcing, "Mrs. Lydia Anna Allen Succumbs at Van Buren". She died in her home, at age 91, after a long illness. She was a native of Ohio and had moved to Wells County, Indiana in 1863, before settling in Van Buren in 1887. Her surviving children were named: three sons, Frank, Charles and Sidney, all of Van Buren, and three daughters, Mrs. Mary Abner, Van Buren, Mrs. Emma Uptgraft, Pennville, and Mrs. Della Geisen, Florida.9

He was a farmer, unable to read and write, and had two months of unemployment during the census year. Susan was 43 years of age and able to read and write. They rented their farm, had been married for one year, and Susan had given birth to ten children, nine of whom were living. The five youngest of Susan's sons from her first marriage were enumerated in the Dillon household in 1900. Charles and Ira P. were ages 18 and 16 years, respectively, and worked as farm laborers. They both had had two months of unemployment during the census year. Olie was 14 years old; and Arthur and Melvin, who were at school, were ages 12 and 8 years, respectively. They had both attended school for four months during the census year. All of the children, with the exception of 8-year-old Melvin, were able to read, write and speak English.5
