President William McKinley Jr.1

b. 29 January 1843, d. 14 September 1901
Birth*29 January 1843William McKinley Jr. was born on 29 January 1843 in Niles, Trumbull County, Ohio.2
Relationship Note*William McKinley Jr. and John Rose were reported by the Heaton source to have been first cousins, appearing unlikely to this researcher given the almost 80 year difference in their ages. The Douglas County source reported that William Heaton's "grandfather, John Rose, and President McKinley's grandmother were cousins." If a cousin connection existed between the two, it may be discovered with additional research. McKinley was the 25th President of the United States, from 1897 to his assassination in 1901, and also the last Civil War Veteran to be elected to the presidency.1,3,2
Death*14 September 1901He was assassinated on 06 September 1901, six months into his second term, and died on 14 September 1901 at age 58.2

b. 5 May 1869, d. 20 September 1947
Birth*5 May 1869Anna E. McLaughlin was born on 5 May 1869 in Gwynedd Heights, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.1,3
Name VariationHer full name was Anna Evans McLaughlin.2
Marriage*1888She married Herbert W. Bloomfield, son of William Bloomfield and Selina Whitby, in 1888 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.2,1
Census US 1910*8 April 1910Anna E. and Herbert W. Bloomfield were enumerated on the 1910 census taken on 8 April 1910 at 2646 Thompson Street, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. Herbert was 56 years of age and owned and operated his own butcher shop, and Anna was 40 years of age. They had been married for 22 years, owned their house free of mortgage, and Anna had given birth to seven children, all of whom were living and enumerated with their parents in 1910. Edith A. was 20 years old and worked as a school teacher for the city; Bessie S. was 19 years old and worked as a bookkeeper for a towel mill; Herbert W. Jr. was 17 years old; Gladys M. was 14; Alice S. was 8; Joseph E. was 5; and Henry C. was 3 years old. Herbert Jr., Gladys, Alice and Joseph had all attended school within the census year. Also residing with the Bloomfield family in 1910 was a boarder, Wesley McLaughlin, who was 33 years of age, born in Pennsylvania, and a blacksmith. We suspect he was a relative of Anna's. Additionally, Anna Williams, age 16 and born in Germany, lived with the family and worked as a servant.1
Census US 1920*28 January 1920Anna and Herbert W. Bloomfield were enumerated on the 1920 census taken on 28 January 1920 in Tullytown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Herbert was 67 years of age and a farmer, and Anna was 50 years of age. Herbert's immigration year was recorded as 1880 and he was naturalized in 1890. They owned their farm with a mortgage. Anna's occupation was recorded as traveling salesman, which we feel certain was meant to have been written by the census taker on the next line for the couple's son Herbert Jr. who was 27 years of age and was enumerated in his parent's household. Their married daughter, Gladys Farmer, also resided with her parents in 1920. She was 24 years of age and had given birth to a stillborn son in Tullytown the previous month. We have found no records for her husband, Clayton S. Farmer, following their marriage. The three youngest of the Bloomfield's children were also enumerated with them, and all had attended school within the census year. Allice was 18 years old; Edward was 14; and Chester was 13. Additionally, a farm laborer, William Shock, age 60, was enumerated as a boarder in the Bloomfield household in 1920.4
(Wife) Death19 December 1921Anna became a widow when Herbert William Bloomfield Sr. died on 19 December 1921 at age 69.5,6
Census US 1930*12 April 1930Anna E. Bloomfield was enumerated on the 1930 census taken on 12 April 1930 on Fallsington Road, Tullytown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She was a widow, 60 years of age, and lived on a general farm, which she rented for $50, and operated with her two youngest sons. The family owned a radio set. Her son Joseph E. was 25 years of age, and Henry C. was 22 years old. Both worked as farmers with their mother. Anna's daughter, Gladys Farmer, also resided in her mother's household in 1930. She was 34 years of age and a widow.7
Census US 1940*29 April 1940Anna E. Bloomfield was enumerated on the 1940 census taken on 29 April 1940 on Old Lincoln Highway, Middletown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. She was 70 years of age, a widow, had completed four years of high school, and owned her farm valued at $6,000. Her occupation was recorded as home housework. Anna's daughter, Gladys B. Farmer, who was 44 years of age and also a widow, lived with her mother in 1940. Gladys had also completed four years of high school and her occupation was home housework. Anna's son Henry C. and his wife, Marion E. Bloomfield, also resided in Anna's household in 1940. Henry was 33 years of age, had completed four years of high school, and operated his mother's farm on his own account. His wife Marion was 32 years of age, had completed four years of college and worked as a teacher in a public school for wages of $1,400. Everyone in the household was reported to have lived in the same house in 1935.8
