Research Notes* The Whittemore Family in America source provides clarification regarding the confusion created by past researchers in accurately determining Thomas' children, writing "the main reason for this was simply a misreading of the Cambridge and Lexington vital records. Another reason was that there lived at the same time in Cambridge Farms (Lexington) a Thomas Whitmore, who also had a wife Mary. That Thomas was a son of Francis Whitmore of Cambridge, the progenitor of the Whitmore family in this country. It is the offspring of this Thomas Whitmore who were thought by earlier genealogists to be the children of Thomas and Mary (Pease) Whittemore of Cambridge and Watertown. It must be understood that the Whitmores are not connected with the Whittemores in any way in America. The connection, being way back in old England, does not concern us in this genealogy. Our Thomas (Whittemore) and Mary had only one child."

Thomas Whitemore and Mary, his wife, removed to Killingly, Connecticut in 1709, where he became one of the original proprietors of that town. All of his children went there with him, including his son, Samuel, wrongly supposed to have been a Whittemore, and to have married Peternell Mitchell in Malden, Massachusetts."1 
Guardianship24 December 1694 After their father died on 8 Dec 1694, the probate court, on 24 December 1694, appointed Thomas guardian for his three-year-old brother, Daniel Whittemore.1 
Death*10 August 1717He died on 10 August 1717 in Cambridge at age 521,2 
Burial* and was buried in the Old Burying Ground. His gravestone noted his age as 52 years, 10 months and 10 days.1

She was working as a general farmer and employer, and rented her farm. Her three sons, Sherman N. and Merritt D. Koop, and Joy J. Faubion, were enumerated with her. Sherman and Merritt, whose surname was recorded as "Cope", were ages 14 and 11 years, respectively, and had attended school within the census year; and Joy J. Faubion was 3 years old.15 
(Unrelated) Census US 192031 January 1920She had returned to using her maiden name when she was enumerated as Rachel Whitten on the 1920 census taken on 31 January 1920 in the household of James W. Gipe in Walnut, Phillips County, Kansas. James was 48 years of age, single, and worked as a farmer on his own account. Rachel was 40 years of age, divorced, and worked as a housekeeper on James's farm. Rachel's son, Joy, was also enumerated in the Gipe household in 1920. His name was recorded as Joy Whitten, and his age as 11 years, although he was actually about age 13. He had attended school within the census year.16

By the time their divorce was granted, Dixie had moved from Arkansas to Richmond, California, and did not contest the divorce. According to court records, one child was affected, no alimony was awarded and no property was involved.5,6

Andres's line number was selected for supplemental information and we learned that he had lived in the same house the year before, had completed his education through the 11th grade of Secondary School, that he had worked 20 weeks in 1949 for an income of $400, and that other relatives living in the house had earned $900 in 1949.3

Bertie was 57 years of age and keeping house, and they lived on a farm larger than 3 acres. Their son, Andres, with his daughter, Bertie Charlene, was enumerated with the couple in 1950. Andres was 31 years of age and separated from his second wife. He worked as a carpenter for a privately owned Contractor business, and had worked 48 hours the week before the census was taken. Bertie Charlene, his daughter from his first marriage, was 10 years old, and likely attending school. Andres's line number was selected for supplemental information and we learned that he had lived in the same house the year before, had completed his education through the 11th grade of Secondary School, that he had worked 20 weeks in 1949 for an income of $400, and that other relatives living in the house had earned $900 in 1949. A lodger, Mamie E. Gilbert, was also enumerated in the Wibbing household in 1950. She was 63 years of age, a widow, and unable to work.6

Laurendeau, were also enumerated, with their daughter, as lodgers in the Bougie household in 1920. Alfred was 38 years of age and worked for wages as a laborer on George's grain farm, and Clara was 26 years of age and worked for wages as a seamstress in a shirtwaist factory. Their daughter, Pansy, was 12 years old and had attended school within the census year. Everyone in the Bougie household was able to read, write and to speak English.6
