Amos was 49 years of age and a physician and Mary was 48 and keeping house. Six of the couple's children lived with their parents in 1880. Amos B. was 21 and worked in a hardware store, Elmer was 19 and a coffee broker, Wilbur was 16 and worked as a clerk for a coffee broker, Flora at 13 and Mary at 10 had both attended school within the year, and Bertha was 8. Katie Brooks, who had been born in Ireland and was 26, and was identified as a sister-in-law, also resided with the Williams family in 1880 and helped with the housekeeping.7
