Augustus S. was 56 years of age and a retired civil engineer and Louisa M.'s age was reported as 39. Only two of their children resided with their parents in 1901. Rose was 13 and William was 8. An overnight visitor with the family was enumerated as John George Hinds, who was 64 years of age and born in Ireland. He was single and lived on his own means, and is thought by this researcher to have been John, the older brother of Augustus from his father's first marriage. Also living with the family as a general servant was Ada, age 19.4
