Carl was 35 years of age and, because of his illness, was unable to work. Pearl was 30 years of age and worked for wages as a waitress in a restaurant. Their marriage was the first marriage for each of them, and their two children, Harold P. and Russell Furnice, were ages 8 and 7 years, respectively, and had both attended school within the census year.
