Emoreen Schildt1
b. 17 October 1924, d. October 1965
Birth* | 17 October 1924 | Emoreen Schildt was born near Browning, Glacier County, Montana, on 17 October 1924. After identifying three conflicting dates for her birth, we finally located Montana's official birth entry for her, and found she had been recorded as "Emorie". We had been unsure of her birth date because at her first marriage she had reported her date of birth as 17 July 1924, and we now suspect she may have provided the earlier month in order to meet a legal age requirement. Her date of birth was consistently recorded, each year on the Blackfeet Reservation Indian census rolls, as 17 October 1924, and it was recorded as 17 October 1925 when she married her third husband in 1954.2,3,1,4 |
Name Variation | | She was called Emorie.5 |

Divorce* | 18 July 1945 | Emoreen was granted a divorce from James K. Kittson on the grounds of incompetence because of intoxication on 18 July 1945 by the Ninth Judicial District Court in Cut Bank, Glacier County, Montana.6 |

On this particular day, however, his father was away helping a neighbor and when Fred went down, the bank of the well caved in and buried him. His mother dug him out, but the pressure of the earth was believed to have killed him instantly. The story in the newspaper expressed the community's sympathy for the family reporting that, "it makes the heart feel sad to think of the agonizing efforts of the mother trying to rescue her boy."3 |

- [S766] Séamas MacAnnaidh, "Old Rossorry Graveyard, Enniskillen", This work is a combination of the reading and transcribing of gravestones, newspaper notices and microfilm. The gravestones were in the Old Rossorry Graveyard in Enniskillen and his graveyard project was unfinished at the time of his writing. Most of the newspaper notices were found in the Enniskillen Chronicle and Erne Packet, although some were also from the Enniskillen Impartial Reporter. Those he included were described simply as "relevant" to the families or individuals mentioned on the gravestones. The microfilm he used was (MIC 1/22) Church of Ireland burial register found at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland, Old Rossorry Graveyard, Enniskillen (County Fermanagh, Ireland), online at http://www.igp-web.com/IGPArchives/ire/fermanagh/cemeteries/…, downloaded on downloaded 4 Sep 2010.
