Harris was 28 years of age and worked as a teamster, and Malissa was 22 years of age and keeping house. No children or other individuals were enumerated with them in 1880.5 
Marriage-Possible*1895He may have married Anna E. Heaton, daughter of James Andrew Heaton and Esther Ann Lewis, about 1895. Although they were living together as married on the 1900 census, we are unsure about their marriage. They both had previous spouses who were still living in 1900 and, other than Annie's divorce in December of 1901 from William H. May, we've not found divorce or marriage records to indicate a Hill marriage about 1895.1 
Census US 1900*1 June 1900Annie E. and Harris J. Hill were enumerated on the 1900 census taken on 1 June 1900 in Slagle, Wexford County, Michigan. Harris was 48 years of age and worked as a tinware peddler, and Annie was 39 years of age. They were both able to read, write and to speak English. They reported they had been married for 5 years and Annie was recorded as having given birth to six children, three of whom were living. The couple's daughter, Laura J. Hill, was 3 years old and was able to speak English. Two of Annie's sons from her first marriage were also enumerated in the Hill household in 1900. Charles May was 12 years old and worked as a day laborer, and William A. May was 7 years old, a student, and had attended school for four months of the census year. Both of the boys were able to read, write and to speak English. Regarding Annie's two other children from her first marriage, her oldest son, Arthur May, was 21 years old, boarding with a family in Dayton, Newaygo County, Michigan, and working as a farm laborer, and Annie's daughter, Maggie E. (May) Clark, was 20 years old, had married about 1895, and was enumerated in 1900 with her husband and children in Goodwell, Newaygo County, Michigan.1,6,7

(Grandson) Will8 May 1778He was named in the will of his grandfather, Henry Bowen, dated 8 May 1778 in Frederick County, Virginia. Following his grandfather's death, he was to receive the Negro boy named Ben.4 
Marriage*He married first, his 1st cousin Nancy Heaton, daughter of Isaac Heaton and Hannah Bowen.1,3,2 
Occupation*Rees was a prominent merchant in Waynesburg, Greene County. The old ledgers of his store, conducted in partnership with John Depul, were in the hands of the Tenmile Country author who reported them to show many interesting transactions, as well as information about the people who lived in the Green County area at that time.5 
War of 1812*Rees served as a Colonel in the War of 1812.5 
Political Service*1816He served Greene County in the Pennsylvania Legislature for many years, first as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, being twice elected, in 1816 and 1819, Speaker of the House. He later served as a Pennsylvania State Senator. He was active in securing pensions for widows of men who had lost their lives in the War of 1812, as well as in obtaining pensions for soldiers of the Revolutionary War, who had become indigent.5,6 
Association*25 August 1817He was one of the first members of the Waynesburg Masonic Lodge, which was constituted on 25 August 1817.7,8 
Land Records*At some time before her death, Rees' mother Priscilla Hill conveyed to her son Rees Hill her 1/6th interest in a tract of land in Frederick County, Virginia. The deed was recorded in Frederick County in November 1823.9 
War of 18123 March 1819 On 3 March 1819, the United States Congress and President James Monroe approved an act which reimbursed Colonel Rees Hill for money he had spent for the expenses of his troops during the War of 1812.6 
Relocation*1820After leaving the Pennsylvania Legislature, about 1820, Rees went to Frederick County, Virginia, where, over a period of years, he attempted to collect together the estate of his grandfather, Henry Bowen, and also the estates of two of his uncles, Ensign Rees Bowen and Sergeant Henry Bowen, who had died in the Revolutionary War. It is not known to us yet whether or not his wife Nancy and any of their children went with him to Virginia, or if he travelled the distance of about 165 miles alone. Did he commute between the two locations, or did he actually reside there?5 
(Attorney) Court Action30 April 1821Rees Hill Esq. was the attorney who represented his uncle John Bowen in a court held for Frederick County, Virginia, on 30 April 1821, where it was proven that John Bowen was the elder brother of Rees Bowen and Henry Bowen, both deceased.10 
Estate*1823He was appointed Administrator in 1823 of the estate of his mother's brother, John Bowen, who had died intestate in Frederick County, Virginia.11 
Estate*For a time, Rees's efforts were successful as he worked on the three estates of his relatives in Frederick County, Virginia. Eventually, though, he over-extended himself and got into financial straits. His wife Nancy died during this time, and the litigation on the estates was still in the courts when Rees died more than twenty years later.5 
(Husband) Death16 June 1828Rees became a widower when Nancy (Heaton) Hill died on 16 June 1828 in Greene County, Pennsylvania.12,13 
Marriage*1 January 1829He married second the widow Louise (__?__) Abbott on 1 January 1829 in Frederick County, Virginia.14,1,7 
Census US 1850*1850He and his wife, Louisa Hill, appeared on the 1850 census in District 16, Frederick County, Virginia. Rees, spelled "Reece", age 75, was a farmer with real estate valued at $16,530. His wife Louisa was age 63, and their daughter Louisa R. was age 20. Others in the household consisted of Juliet B. Abbott, age 42, and Amanda M. Wiley, age 10. All members of the household had been born in Virginia.15 
Death*24 November 1852He died on 24 November 1852 near Winchester, Frederick County, at age 761,5
