Sarah Kellems1

b. 1802
Birth*1802Sarah Kellems was born about 1802 in Virginia.2
Marriage*12 August 1819She married Jesse Belcher, son of John T. Belcher Sr. and Martha Johnston, on 12 August 1819 in Crawford County, Indiana.1,3
(2nd Daughter-in-Law) Land Records1 August 1839After her father-in-law's death, Sarah's husband and his four brothers, the five sons of John T. Belcher Sr., inherited equal parts of a specific tract or parcel of land consisting of 80 acres in Orange County, Indiana that their father had owned at the time of his death. Subsequently, each of his four oldest sons sold his inherited share in that land, which would have amounted to about 16 acres each, to their youngest brother. A deed dated 1 August 1839 in Orange County, Indiana, described the transaction, and we note that the description of the 80 acres of land in the deed is not the same as the description of the 80 acres of land their father purchased in 1837 as a Land Patent from the United States Federal Government. Our transcription of the deed follows:

This indenture made 1 August 1839 between James Belcher and Nancy Belcher his wife and Jesse Belcher and Sarah Belcher his wife and Joseph Belcher and Ruth Belcher his wife and Berry Belcher and Mary Belcher his wife, heirs of John T. Catherine Kelly1

d. 1817
ChartsDescendants of John Hinds, including our Walters and Ralphs
Marriage*She married Ralph Hinds, son of Ralph Hinds and Esther Cannon.1
Residence*Catherine and Ralph lived with their daughters, Charlotte and Mary Anne, at Mulhussey Castle, County Meath.1
Death*1817She died in her home at County Meath in 1817.1
(Mother) Court ActionIn the marriage settlement of Charlotte's and Mary Anne's mother, Catherine Kelly, to Ralph Hinds, there was a clause charging £1000 for each of the daughters on the Mulhussey property. After the death of Mary Anne, this money was recovered by Charlotte, who inherited her sister's portion. After the Court of Chancery directed that part of the property be sold, to pay this money, Charlotte bought land that had belonged to her father and was situated near Killeshandra in the townlands of Toberlyan and Mulrick.1
(Wife) Burial Following her father's death in 1848, Catherine's daughter, Charlotte, erected a monument at St. Jerome Cemetery in Dublin in her father's and sister's memory. It stands close to the entrance gate of the cemetery and is inscribed with the names of Ralph Hinds and Mary Anne Hinds. The date on the monument is not correct for Ralph's death, and may be the date that Catherine, Charlotte's mother, died in 1817 and/or the date of Mary Anne's death.1
