Birth*7 March 1831Ann Elizabeth Wheeler was born on 7 March 1831, probably in Connecticut, although the Conger Family source reported it took place on Long Island, New York.1
Name VariationAnn Elizabeth was usually called Elizabeth.
Marriage*12 March 1850She married John Newton Conger, son of Uzziah Conger and Hannah West, on 12 March 1850 in Knox County, Illinois.1,2,3
Census US 1850*14 October 1850Ann and John Newton Conger were enumerated on the 1850 census taken on 14 October 1850 in Township 10 N 1 E, Knox County, Illinois. He was a farmer and they were both 19. The newly married couple lived with John Newton's brother, Norman Hurd Conger and his wife Mary, who was Elizabeth's sister. Clustered together on the same census page, and apparently living on neighboring farms, were two additional Conger brothers: Crayton Hall Conger and wife Minerva, and Lauren Clark Conger with his wife Amanda and their son Seth. Minerva and Amanda Conger were most likely sisters and their Hasbrook parents also lived on a neighboring farm in the cluster. And then, not too far away, were Mary and Elizabeth's parents, Alvah and Jenotia Wheeler with their family. Two more daughters still living in the Wheeler parents' home would also marry Conger brothers.4

His wife, during her lifetime, was the primary beneficiary of all of his land and most of his household furniture and stock. Each of his five children, when they came of age or married, was to receive a beast, bridle and saddle, and one good bed. His instructions were clear about wanting each of his five surviving children's total share of his estate, within twelve months after his wife's death, to be made equal in value after the sale of his remaining land, household furniture and stock. He included the direction that "Delilah, Polly and Fanny is to be learnt to read and rite", and that "William and Micajah to be well educated." He gave Reuben Kinslow, widower of his deceased daughter Amy, one horse, a cow and calf, and the bed and furniture that had been Amy's in her lifetime and, at that time, was in Reuben's possession.

He appointed his wife Betsy Wheeler as Executrix, and his son William as Executor to his Estate.
