They had been married for 29 years, owned their house free of mortgage, and Missouri had given birth to ten children, nine of whom were living. Four of the couple's children and a grandson were enumerated with them in 1910. Roy L. was 22 years of age and worked for wages in a Tui Plate Works company; Carl was 18 years old and worked for wages as a farm laborer; and Olin and Myrtle were ages 15 and 12 years, respectively, and had attended school within the census year. Leander and Missouri's grandson, Waldo E. Barton, the son of the couple's daughter, Axie (Steel) Barton Crandall Stanton, was 7 years old and attended school within the census year. Florence, Evaline and Artimissa Marlow were ages 6, 4, and 1 year, respectively, and not yet in school or working, and William, Samuel, John and Lizzie Lee were ages 13, 12, 10 and 8 years, respectively. The boys, William, Samuel and John had all attended school within the census year, while Lizzie had not.6

Their youngest daughter, Frances, was the only one of their children enumerated with them in 1900. She was 12 years old, could read and write, and had attended school for 3 months of the census year. They rented their house, had been married for 2 years, the first marriage for each, and Iva had given birth to one child, a daughter, who was enumerated with them. Mable E. was one year old. William and May Raut, who were newly married, were enumerated as boarders with Cortney and Iva in 1910.6
