Research Notes*John and Sarah's marriage did not last very long, although whether by divorce or Sarah's death we don't know. John would marry his third wife in December of 1896 and we have found no records we can confirm for Sarah, before or after her marriage.8,10,1

Census US 1860*13 July 1860Sarah P. and Robert Ratliff were enumerated on the 1860 census taken on 13 July 1860 in Sherrill, Texas County, Missouri. The family's surname was spelled "Ratcliff" by the census taker. Robert was 38 years of age and a farmer with real estate valued at $850 and a personal estate valued at $400. Neither Robert nor Sarah could read or write. They were enumerated with Robert's eight children from his first marriage and the couple's new baby.
