Signing their marriage certificate as witnesses were Patrick Kennedy and Catherine Rabbitt, who may have been Catherine's mother.4,2 
(Executor) Will28 January 1895James was appointed an Executor in the will of Patrick Trears dated 28 January 1895 at Ballymoe, County Galway. The Tuam District Registry's copy was prepared without paragraphs, so we have taken the liberty of separating the thoughts where we thought appropriate for ease of reading. We have not modified any spelling or punctuation that we are aware of. Our transcription of the registry's copy follows:

In the name of God Amen, I Patrick Trears of Ballymoe in the county of Galway Farmer, being at present of sound mind, and memory, and understanding do make and publish this my last will and testament revoking all other wills and testaments made by me.

I will and bequeath unto my daughter Bedelia Dillon my fee simple estate which I hold in my possession in Corrastoony Beg in the County Roscommon on conditions that she will send Flossie Rorke, my dear little child who is living with me at present, to a convent school and give her a good education, and on leaving school I would be very well pleased if she took her to live with herself. Corrastoony Beg is held by six tenants who are supposed to pay their rents in May and November in each year. I also authorize and empower my daughter to leave said land to her son Thomas G. Dillon M.D. on her demise.

I also will and bequeath unto my daughter Bedelia, and my granddaughter Kate A. Dillon, my house and premises at Ballymoe, and all furniture therein, i.e., the house I live in at present. I also bequeath unto my daughter Bedelia Dillon the dividend on forty-two shares, which I hold in the National Bank Ltd., none of these to be sold during her lifetime. After my daughter’s death those forty-two shares to be divided on my grandchildren and Flossie Rorke share alike.

I will and bequeath unto my daughter Bedelia Dillon my wagonette, and harness, one horse, one cow, i.e., the white one.

I will and bequeath unto my granddaughter Kate A. Dillon, six shares, which I hold in the London and Westminster Bank Ltd. I also will, and bequeath to Kate A. Dillon twenty shares which I hold in the National Bank Ltd. I also will and bequeath to Kate A. Dillon five shares which I hold in the London Joint Stock Bank which I hold.

I will, and bequeath unto Elena Mary Flossie Rorke fifteen shares which I hold in the National Bank Ltd., said shares not to be sold until she attains the age of twenty-one, the dividend to be lodged in the Post Office Savings Bank, by the executors named in this will. I also will, and bequeath unto M. Flossie Rorke one share which I hold in the Midland Great Western Railway, its present price is £135, this share not to be sold until she attains the age of twenty-one and then only with the consent of her parents, and executors named in my will.

I will and bequeath unto my grandson Richard Dillon fifteen shares which I hold in the National Bank Ltd., those fifteen shares not to be sold without the consent of the executors named below, the dividend on said shares to be paid (to) said Richard Dillon, as it falls due.

I will and bequeath unto my grandson Thomas G. Dillon M.D. five shares that I hold in the London and County Bank Ltd.

I will and bequeath to my son Thomas Trears the lands of Ballaghamurray (which I purchased under Lord Ashbourne) for his life’s use only. After his death, I will, and bequeath said lands of Ballaghamurray to my grandson Thomas G. Dillon M.D., and after the latter’s to his brother Richard if at home, if not to the next heir, this farm not to be sold.

I also will and bequeath to my son Thomas Trears fifteen shares which I hold in the National Bank.

I will and bequeath unto Mary my servant girl ten (10) pounds for her long and faithful servitude.

I will and bequeath twenty pounds for masses for the happy repose of my poor soul, that God may have mercy on me. I will unto the Reverend Father Coogan five pounds for masses for the happy repose of the souls of myself and my wife Mary, that God may have mercy on us both, Amen. I also will five pounds to Father Coogan for masses for the happy repose of the souls of my father, mother and sister, that God may have mercy on them.

The shares which I hold, ten (10) in number, in the London Joint Stock Bank I order to be sold, and all expenses for masses and burial, together with whatever debts I owe to be defrayed out of proceeds of said shares.

I will any surplus which may remain from proceeds of above shares, after expenses being paid, and also any money which may be to my credit in National Bank Ltd. Castlerea to my daughter Bedelia Dillon and my granddaughter Kate A. Dillon, to be divided equally.

I appoint Mr. James Hurley, Clerk of Petty Sessions, Corlack(an), Ballymoe and Mr. T.G. Dillon M.D., Castlecoote, County Roscommon Executors to this my last will and testament. The will was signed by Patrick Trears

Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of us and in presence of each of us and of each other, and we subscribe our names as witnesses, at the request of the testator this twenty-eighth day of January one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, and the witnesses signed, James Hurley, Corlack(an), Ballymoe, County Galway, farmer and Clerk of Petty Sessions, and Cornelius Conneffe, R.I. Constabulary, Ballymoe. Then: “I certify that the foregoing has been compared and is a correct copy of the original will lodged here” and the certification signed by the Tuam District Registry.1 
Census Ireland 1901*1901Catherine and James Hurley were enumerated on the 1901 census taken as of the night of 1901 in Corlackan, County Galway. James was 65 years of age, a farmer and a Clerk of Petty Sessions, and Catherine was 50 years of age. Four of the couple's children resided in their parents' household in 1901. Kathleen was 22 and Delia was 20. The occupation for each of them was recorded as "no trade or profession". Son Edward was 18 and a "scholar" and Patrick was 16 with "no trade or profession". Also residing in the Hurley household in 1901 was Mary Collins, who was 17 years old, and working as a domestic servant. Everyone in the household was Roman Catholic and could read and write.5 
Census Ireland 1911*1911Catherine and James Hurley appeared on the 1911 census in Corlackan, County Galway. James was 76 years of age, a Magistrate and farmer, and Catherine was 60 years of age. The couple had been married for 39 years. Catherine had given birth to 9 children, 8 of whom were living. Three of the couple's unmarried children resided in their parent's home in 1911. Kathleen was 29 years of age, Edward J. was 28 and a Clerk of Petty Sessions, Patrick J. was 24 and a Magistrate and farmer. Also living with the family in 1911 were two servants, Thomas Breheny who was age 22, and probably worked as a farm servant, and Lizzie Ryan who was 17 and likely worked as a domestic servant.6

Four children were enumerated with them in 1920. Isabelle was 7 years old and had attended school within the census year; Lillian and Jean were ages 5 and 4 years, respectively; and William Jr. was 14 months old.4 
Divorce*before 5 May 1930Bessie (Husband) Reeves and William Henry Reeves were divorced before 5 May 1930, the date William was enumerated as divorced on the 1930 census taken in in Sharon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. After their parent's divorce, the couple's children lived with their father.5 
Marriage*Her second husband's surname was Hinman. We have not been able to identify him, and the only reason we know his surname is that Betty married her third husband using the name Bessie (Husband) Reeves Hinman. She indicated on the record of her third marriage that her two previous husbands had both predeceased her. We know, in the case of her first husband, William Henry Reeves, although he did die before Betty, they had divorced about 25 years before his death. Regarding Mr. Hinman, we don't know who he was, and we don't know when he died.1

Biographical Info*Edward had trained to be a merchant in Boston. He served as a Selectman of the town, a Representative to the General Court, Colonel of the regiment, Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, was Treasurer of Harvard College for 30 years, and Judge of Probate for the County of Suffolk, a position he held until his death.2 
(Judge) Codicil28 August 1747Judge Edward Hutchinson reviewed the codicil to the will written by the Reverend Benjamin Colman on 28 August 1747 in Boston. Reverend Colman had died the next day before he could give it, as he had planned, to one of his Executors, John Phillips Esq. of Boston, described as a worthy Deacon of the Church in Brattle Street. The codicil first confirmed his will and testament in its entirety, except for the addition written in the codicil which stated that if either his honored friend John Phillips, Esq. or his beloved nephew Benjamin Colman of Boston, merchant, were to take upon them the trust and trouble of Executor to his will with the necessary care of the education of his grandson John Dennie, that £200 out of his estate should be allowed to him for the care and his great kindness. The codicil was not witnessed.

From a letter written on 7 Sep 1747 by Benjamin's widow Mary Colman at the Judge's request, and included in the probate packet, we learned that Benjamin had completed writing his codicil in the evening, and put it in his desk drawer for the night. Mary wrote in her letter to Judge Edward Hutchinson that Benjamin had told her he was thinking possibly of adding something more, and would complete it in the morning and then deliver it to Deacon John Phillips. Her letter stated that, between the hours of three and five in the morning of the 29th August, her dear husband, Dr. Benjamin Colman, told her that if he didn't have the opportunity to finish it, she should submit it to the court and that the court would be able to tell it was written in Benjamin's own hand and signed with his signature.5 
(Judge) Probate5 September 1747The estate of the Reverend Benjamin Colman was opened for probate on 5 September 1747 in Boston. His will and his codicil were both found valid by Judge Edward Hutchinson, Judge of the Probate of Wills for the Province of Massachusetts Bay.5 
(Judge) Inventory18 September 1747 On 18 September 1747 the Inventory of the estate of the Reverend Benjamin Colman, completed and appraised by William Downe, Daniel Henchman and John Fayerweather and sworn to by one of the estate's Executors John Phillips Esq., was filed with Judge Edward Hutchinson in Boston. The total value of the Estate was appraised at £14,460, 7s, 10p, which in 2010 would have been equal to about £1,810,000 or approximately $2,800,000. The inventory provided an itemized list of the contents of each of the rooms, which were described, in his home on Brattle Street, the only real property he owned at his death. The large brick house was valued at £4,000 and the rooms were described as a Study, a large Front Room, a small room between the 2 front chambers, a second Front Room, a Kitchen Chamber, a north Front Chamber, a Keeping Room Chamber, a Chamber over the Study, an Upper Chamber over the Study, another Upper Chamber, and two additional upper Chambers. His cash and bonds were valued at just under £7,000, and his library of books at just under £1,000. Reverend Colman owned two slaves; his Negro man Boston was appraised at £300, and his Negro woman Violet at £220. His wearing apparel and household goods made up the remaining value.5
