To his beloved wife Sarah, he bequeathed the use and improvement of all the land and buildings he had already conveyed by deed to Ebenezer Hathaway. He also gave her the use of a seat in his pew in the meeting house during her natural life, and a list of articles, to be at her own disposal, out of his personal estate. Included was all of his moveable household furniture located within the door, a tool called "his hone & chain", two cows, five sheep and the swine that shall be on the place at the time of his decease, and so much of the provisions on hand as shall be sufficient in her opinion to carry her through the year or to another crop.5

He was 63 years of age and worked as a Mold Finisher at a privately owned Tool and Die Shop. He had worked 24 hours the week before the census was taken. Grace was 58 years of age and worked doing her home housework. Her line number was selected for additional information, and we learned that she had lived in the same house one year before, had attended school into the 9th grade of Secondary School, although had not completed the grade, and had not worked outside her home in 1949. Two of Albert and Grace's children, and two of their grandchildren, were enumerated in their household in 1950. Their son, Stanton, was 19 years old and probably attending school. Their daughter, Vera N. Wills, was 30 years of age and divorced, and her two children, Vera Lavko and William H. Wills, were ages 8 and 3 years, respectively.3

(Appraiser) Inventory20 May 1807On 7 May 1807 appraisers Asa Thomson, Nathan Hudson and Benjamin Pope completed the inventory on the estate of John Hooper late of Bridgewater. Two days later, on 9 May, the three appraisers appeared before the Judge of Probate and made solemn oath that the inventory was "a true and just appraisement" of the deceased's estate according to their best skill and judgment. Then on 20 May 1807, Administrator Ebenezer Hathaway appeared before the judge with a copy of the ordered advertisement and made oath that the inventory contained the whole of John Hooper's estate as far as he knew, and if he learned of more would account for it before the judge. The inventory's total value was shown as $3384.81 and consisted of real estate $719, a pew in the meeting house $200, securities for cash $1810, quick stock $310.75, farming utensils $53.06, household furniture $200, wearing apparel $60, one watch $20 and other silver $12.5

They were able to reach the fort, but died there of their wounds. Their children were taken to Bridgewater where they were brought up by their uncle Edward Mitchell.1
