She owned her home, which was valued at $300, and worked for wages as a maid for a privately owned hotel company. She had worked 40 weeks in 1939 for a total income of $170, and had worked 40 hours the week prior to the census being taken. Clement Roach, her son from her first marriage, was enumerated with her and recorded with the surname Charles. Clement was 33 years of age, single, and had completed his education through the 6th grade of elementary school. He was working for wages as a laborer in a government W.P.A. quarry project. He had worked 40 weeks in 1939 for a total income of $370, and had worked 40 hours the week before the census was taken. Rhodella and Clement were both recorded as having lived in the same house on April 1, 1935.9

(Mentioned) Will2 June 1803The son of Ezekiel Palmer of Woodstock, Vermont, John Hooper Palmer, was named as a beneficiary in the will of John Hooper dated 2 June 1803 in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. No further identification of the heir was made in the will and his relationship to the testator is not known. The bequest made to John Palmer was for one-third of the sale of the remainder, after paying all just debts, funeral and other charges, of John Hooper's personal estate not otherwise bequeathed. The other two-thirds of the remainder were bequeathed to two nephews.1

Burial*Thomas and Grace (Palmer) Minor were both buried in Wequetequock Cemetery, Stonington. Their grave was covered by a "wolfstone", consisting of a large granite slab which it is believed he selected for the purpose from his own field. On one side of the stone an inscription read: "Here lyeth the body of Lieutenant Thomas Minor, aged 83 years. Departed 1690". His wife, Grace, who died just two months after her husband, was buried beside Thomas, and the opposite side of the stone was inscribed for her.1

Death*18 March 1901He died on Sunday evening, 18 March 1901, in Lake View, Sac County, Iowa, in his early to mid-70s. He died at the home of his stepdaughter and son-in-Law, Martha and Frank Z. Wilson, with whom he and his wife, Jane, had been making their home since moving from Canada to Lake View the previous fall. His death was sudden and unexpected as he had been ill for only a few days with a bowel complaint7,5,8

(an Heir) Will2 June 1803John Hooper Palmer, son of Ezekiel Palmer of Woodstock, Vermont was named as a beneficiary in the will of John Hooper dated 2 June 1803 in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. No further identification of the heir was made in the will and his relationship to the testator is not known. The bequest made to John Palmer was for one-third of the sale of the remainder, after paying all just debts, funeral and other charges, of John Hooper's personal estate not otherwise bequeathed. The other two-thirds of the remainder were bequeathed to two nephews.1

He had served in the militia and worked as a farmer. The other non-family member was Oren P. Haskins, who was 6 years old, and had lived in Iowa for nine months.1 
Census US 1860*10 July 1860Magdalena and Samuel Brumbaugh were enumerated on the 1860 census taken on 10 July 1860 in Buffalo, Scott County, Iowa. Samuel, who was recorded with no occupation, was 56 years of age and owned real estate valued at $2,000 and had a personal estate valued at $1,000. Magdalena was 54 years of age. Two of their daughters and a son-in-law were enumerated with them in 1860. Their daughter, Mary, had married Abram Libby in November of 1856 and were enumerated as a separate family in the Brumbaugh home. Mary was 23 years of age and Abram was age 30. Samuel and Magdalena's youngest daughter, Lydia, was 11 years old and had attended school within the census year.7

Witnesseth that for the consideration of $100 in hand paid to said George W. Britt, the parties of the first part have bargained and sold and hereby convey to said Austin, a certain tract of land lying in Barren County, Kentucky on the waters of little Glovers Creek containing 25 acres, and being the same that the widow and heirs of Benjamin Britt, deceased, conveyed to Robert Taylor and said Taylor conveyed back to said George W. Britt. The said Rebecca not having joined in said deed to said Taylor as one of the heirs of said Benjamin Britt, and the said William Y. being under 21 years of age, they, for the consideration expressed in said deed to said Taylor, joined in the deed to said Austin, said William Y. being now 21 years of age.

The clerk of Barren County certified that the deed from George W. Britt and his wife Nancy, William Y. Britt and Mrs. Pardue to William F. Austin was produced by them and acknowledged by the said grantors to be their act and deed. Whereupon the deed and certification were recorded on 27 June 1854.8
