William was 35 years of age and a farmer, and Sarah Jane was 41 years of age and keeping house. She was recorded as being sick with consumption, which we now know as tuberculosis. Five additional individuals were enumerated with them in 1880. Medora E. Wine, Sarah's daughter from her first marriage, was single, 20 years old, and was able to read, although not to write. Medora's baby son, Charley, was one year old. The three daughters from the couple's marriage, Phebe, Lucy and Margaret were ages 13, 11 and 9 years, respectively. The two older sisters were able to read, although not to write, and Margaret's abilities were not recorded. Sarah's son from her first marriage, David Wine, was enumerated as a prisoner at the West Virginia State Penitentiary in Washington, Marshall County.7

Marriage*1 November 1919He married Isabelle Dillon, daughter of Milo Dillon and Anna Thompson, on 1 November 1919 in Woodward, Dallas County, Iowa. Their license was applied for on 30 October 1919, with the affidavit made by Steele Blake, and they were married by William M. Wade, Justice of the Peace.1,3 
Census US 1940*8 April 1940Isabelle and Blake Willis were enumerated on the 1940 census taken on 8 April 1940 in Perry, Dallas County, Iowa. Blake was 47 years of age and working as a lawyer in private practice, and Isabelle was 45. The other members of their household were son Ned, who was age 19, daughter Annabelle, age 10, and Blake's father, Arthur E. Willis, 82 years of age and a widower.4,5
