(Child) Will6 May 1798His father prepared his will dated 6 May 1798 in St. Ann Parish, Albemarle County, Virginia, naming his wife, Susannah Myers, and three children, John Myers, Dicey Myers and Christopher Myers. His will appointed his wife Susannah, John Evrett and Zachariah Emmerson, his brother-in-law, as Executrix and Executors, respectively. What follows is our transcription of Christopher's will.

In the name of God Amen, I Christopher Myers of the County of Albemarle and Parish of St. Ann, being in a low state of health though in perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in following manner and form.

First, my will is that all my just debts be paid.

Secondly, I lend unto my loving wife Susannah Myers all my estate, real and personal, during her natural life (with this exception) provided she continues in a state of widowhood. But should she marry, my will is that the whole of my estate should be taken out of her hands by my Executors hereafter mentioned, and by them kept for the benefit of my three children hereafter mentioned.

Thirdly, my will is that at the death or marriage of my said wife the whole of my estate of every description whatsoever to be equally divided between my three children, John Myers, Dicey Myers and Christopher Myers.

Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my loving wife Susannah Myers my Executrix, and John Evrett and Zachariah Emmerson, my Executors to this my last will and testament, ratifying this and no other to be my last will hereby revoking and disannulling all former wills and testaments by me made.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 8th day of May 1798, and the will was signed and sealed by Chirstopher Myers in the presence of Samuel Murrel, William Reynolds and Mark Leake.1 
(Son) CodicilBefore his death, John's father prepared a codicil to his will which was not dated and contained additional instructions. The codicil appointed his brother, Jacob Myers, as a specific-purpose Executor, and mentioned his father, John Myers, his paternal grandmother, Anna Elizabeth (Keppler) Meyer Bittenbender, and his grandmother's second husband, Christopher Bittenbender. Below is our transcription of Christopher's codicil.

Item. My will is further that whereas I conceive I am justly intitled to 50 acres land more or less left me by my late grandmother who died in or about the month of May 1792 who was formerly wife to my grandfather Myers who was father to my father John Myers who lives at Easton in the State of Pennsylvania, and which said grandmother after the death of my grandfather Myers intermarried with a certain Christopher Bittenbender and which land lays as well as my recollection serves me is about 25 or 30 miles from Philadelphia and whereas I have for some time past resided in the State of Virginia and not having it fully in my power since I have arrived at the age of discretion to go forward in order to establish my claim to said land being now weak but in perfect memory do constitute my brother Jacob Myers one of my Executors for the express purpose of going forward to establish my just right (hoping he will be assisted by my father’s connections and funds on the express condition that he puts my estate to no trouble or cost for which services I bequeath him the one half of the said land when obtained or the one half of whatever he may sell the same for in money, the other half of the money to be paid by him to my other Executrix and Executors, and by them disposed of in the same manner that my other estate, by my above will.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal ratifying this to be a part of my last will and testament in as full a manner as if it had been before wrote and desire it may be annexed to my will of the 8th of May 1798. [Underlined before signed: who died in or about the month May 1792]

Christopher Myers signed and sealed his codicil in the presence of witnesses, J. A. Lewis, Robert Kempton and John Phillips, who signed with his X mark.1

(Married Daughter) Census US 18809 June 1880Sarah Davis was enumerated on the 1880 census taken on 8 and 9 June 1880 in the household of her parents in Liberty, Cass County, Nebraska. She was married, 21 years of age, and recorded as boarding with her parents. Her two young children, John and Mary Davis, were with her and also recorded as boarding with their grandparents. John was 2 years old; and Mary had been born in October, and was eight months old.8 
Census US 1900*5 June 1900Sadie and Frank Davis were enumerated on the 1900 census taken on 5 June 1900 in Ward 3, Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska. Frank was recorded as 39 years of age, although he was more likely about age 42, and he worked as a Section Man for a Railroad Company. Sarah was recorded as 37 years of age, and was likely about age 41. They rented their house, and unless they had separated, divorced and remarried, they had been married for 24 years in 1900, not just 19 years. Sadie was reported to have given birth to eight children, five of whom were living. Three of their children were enumerated with them in 1900. Mary, Nina and Iness were ages 12, 9 and 7 years, respectively, and all were at school. Mary had attended for 7 months of the census year, and Nina and Iness for 4 months and 3 months, respectively. A lodger, Otto Swanson, was also enumerated in the Davis household in 1900. He was 19 years old and worked as a day laborer.9,4

(Mother) Death11 December 1932Her daughter, Iness, died as the result of a terrible accident on 11 December 1932 in Eureka, Humboldt County, California, at age 38. Her cause of death, according to information received by the Nebraska newspaper, was from injuries received in an explosion. She had been trying to loosen the cork in a perfume bottle by holding it in a pan of hot water, when the bottle exploded.13 
(Mother) Burial17 December 1932Her daughter's remains were returned to Nebraska, and her funeral was held in Albion on Saturday, 17 December 1932 , with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, Boone County. In addition to her husband, Jacob, her daughter, Delores, and her mother, Sadie Sumner, the Albion newspaper reported that those attending her funeral from a distance included her son, John S. Green of Columbus, Platte County, her husband's son from his first marriage, Gilbert R. Wallick, and his wife Freda of Fremont, Dodge County, and Iness's brother, Ben P. Davis of Tekamah, Burt County.13,14
