McClure, and the Minar's son, William, was contemplating starting a business in Pendleton. He was a highly skilled marble cutter.5

Business News*February 1889 In February 1889, the East Oregonian newspaper of Pendleton, Oregon, reported that several weeks before they had stated that the business of marble-cutting, properly managed, would pay in Pendleton. The February newspaper item announced that Mr. William W. Minar, a nephew of Mr. J. R. McClure of Pendleton, had lately arrived from Iowa and would open marble yards in Pendleton and engage in the manufacture of tombstones, slabs, and all works in that line. Mr. Minar, they reported, was an experienced workman, having served many years at his trade, and arrived well recommended. The newspaper stated he would undoubtedly meet with success.6 
Census US 1900*14 June 1900Nellie J. and William W. Minar were enumerated on the 1900 census taken on 14 June 1900 at 1170 East Salmon Street, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. William was 40 years of age and a marble dealer working on his own account, and Nellie was 34 years of age. They had been married for 16 years, and Nellie had given birth to six children, all of whom were living and enumerated with their parents in 1900. Earle W. and Edwin L. were ages 14 and 13 years, respectively, students, and had attended school for nine months of the census year; Berniece B. and Ruth were ages 11 and 9 years, respectively, students, and had attended school for nine months of the census year; Harold W. was age 2 years; and Hazel L. was six months old. William's mother, Mary J. (McClure) Minar, who was 69 years of age, and Nellie’s father, William Chambers, who was age 74, were also enumerated with the family in 1900. Both had been widowed. Everyone in the family over the age of 10 years was able to read, write and to speak English.7 
Death*26 November 1909He died on 26 November 1909 in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, at age 49.2,8 
Obituary27 November 1909His obituary was published on Friday, 27 November 1909 in The Oregonian, Portland, under the titles, "Death Calls Resident" and "William Minar Enjoys Thanksgiving Day; Then Dies". The article identified him as being in good health, and a well-known resident and business man of the East side. After enjoying Thanksgiving dinner, he had retired for the night. Then at 6 o'clock on Friday morning he was attacked with a sudden cardiac apoplexy, passing away quickly. Although physicians were called, he was beyond the reach of their skill. He was 49 years of age, had been born in Wisconsin, and for the past 20 years had lived in Portland.

He was survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie J. Minar, and six children. The paper also mentioned that he and his wife had returned only a few weeks earlier from visiting his mother, brother and sisters in Eastern states and in California.9,8

Earl L., who had been born in Kansas, and Maud E., who had been born in Nebraska, were ages 12 and 10 years, respectively. They were able to read and write, and had both attended school for one month of the census year; Mabel, who had been born in Oregon, was 6 years old and not yet attending school. Dora's brother, John Minner, was single, 41 years of age, able to read and write, and worked as a day laborer. He had been unemployed for three months of the census year, and rented the family's house.1

They owned their house free of mortgage, had been married for 24 years, the first marriage for each, and Dora had given birth to four children, three of whom were living. Their son, Earl, was enumerated with them in 1910. He was single, 22 years of age, and worked for wages as a house plasterer, probably for his father. Everyone in the Timmons household was able to read and write.5

(Minister) Marriage8 March 1683Thomas Minor performed the marriage ceremony of John Bolton and Sarah Chesebrough on 8 March 1683 and recorded the event in his diary. "The ffirst moneth is march, hath .31. days.... .1683.... and Thursday the .8. day I was at the mill and maried John bolten, Rezident in stoneington, and sarah Cheesbrough of the same towne...."2,3  
Death*23 October 1690He died on 23 October 1690 in Stonington, Connecticut, at age 82.1 
Burial*Thomas and Grace (Palmer) Minor were both buried in Wequetequock Cemetery, Stonington. Their grave was covered by a "wolfstone", consisting of a large granite slab which it is believed he selected for the purpose from his own field. On one side of the stone an inscription read: "Here lyeth the body of Lieutenant Thomas Minor, aged 83 years. Departed 1690". His wife, Grace, who died just two months after her husband, was buried beside Thomas, and the opposite side of the stone was inscribed for her.1
