Census US 1860* | 13 June 1860 | Priscilla and Samuel J. Rhoads were enumerated on the 1860 census taken on 13 June 1860 in Hatfield, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Samuel was 35 years of age and a carpenter with real estate valued at $2,000 and a personal estate valued at $1,000, and Priscilla was 40 years of age. The couple had two children in 1860. Sylvester was 3 years old and Mary Ellen was 5 months. Samuel's mother, Elizabeth Rhoads, was also enumerated with the family. She was 70 years of age and recorded as a domestic. That same year, on a census taken in April, his mother had already been enumerated. She was in her own separate household listed next, on the same census page, to her son, Jacob S. Rhoads, in Douglass, Montgomery County. On the April census, she was recorded as 70 years of age with a personal estate valued at $400.1 |

b. 1806
Birth* | 1806 | Priscilla __?__ was born about 1806 in Tennessee.1 |
Marriage* | She married David Dixon.1
Married Name | On the 1850 census her name was written as Drusilla Dixon.1
Census US 1850* | 22 October 1850 | Drusilla and David Dixon were enumerated on the 1850 census taken on 22 October 1850 in Subdivision 26, Bradley County, Tennessee. David was 46 years of age and a farmer, and Priscilla was 44 years of age. They were enumerated with seven children. Mary was 18 years old; Stephen was age 15; Barbara was 11; and Sarah was age 8; the three youngest, Nancy, Rachel and Serena, were ages 6, 4, and 2 years, respectively. The census page is full of additional members of the Dixon family. The households of Alfred and Jacob Dixon, were enumerated one household above and one household below David and Priscilla and we suspect the Dixon men, Alfred at age 49, David at age 46, and Jacob at age 41, were brothers. Alfred was born in North Carolina and all the other Dixons on the page were born in Tennessee.1 |
Census US 1860* | 14 July 1860 | Priscilla and David Dixon were enumerated on the 1860 census taken on 14 July 1860 in Union Township, Iron County, Missouri. David was 58 years of age and a farmer with a personal estate valued at $450, and Priscilla was 54 years of age and could not read or write. Eight children were enumerated with the couple in 1860. Stephen was 23 years of age and a farmer; Barbara was 21 years of age and could not read or write; Sarah, Nancy J., Rachel and Serena were ages 19, 17, 15 and 11 years, respectively; David was age 9 and Consaria was 7 years old. The Dixon's married daughter Mary, who was recorded as Polly with her husband, Enoch DeBoard and their two young sons, were enumerated in the next household on the same census page.2 |
Census US 1870* | 22 June 1870 | Priscilla, who was recorded as Drusilla, and David Dixon were enumerated on the 1870 census taken on 22 June 1870 in Township 31, Range 4 East, Iron County, Missouri. The census taker spelled their surname "Dickson". David was recorded as 60 years of age and a farmer with real estate valued at $100 and a personal estate valued at $200. Everyone in the family was recorded as born in Missouri although, if other census records are correct, only Matilda, their youngest, had actually been born there. David and Priscilla were enumerated with four of their children in 1870. Serena, who had married eight years earlier, was likely visiting her parents. Her name was recorded as "Rena", she was 21 years of age and at home. Her two young sons were not with her. David was age 19 and at home; the daughter who was "Consaria" on the 1860 census was "Conrad" on the 1870, and was 16 years old and at home; and Matilda was 7 years old and at home. No one in the household could read or write except the father David. It appears from the location information that David and Priscilla, as well as their daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Enoch DeBoard, may have moved houses since the 1860 census. Again, though, the two households were enumerated next to each other on the 1870 census.3 |

Immigration* | 1635 | Rachel and Francis Newcomb sailed from London to New England with their two children, Rachel and John, on the ship Planter, Nicholas Trarice, Master, in 1635. Francis, aged 30, stated his occupation as husbandman. His wife Rachel was 20, their daughter Rachel 2 1/2 and son John 9 months. There was some doubt as to his wife's conformity to the tenets of the Boston faith, however, as on the same date that Newcomb was dismissed, apparently in good standing, a committee was chosen to inquire into the spiritual state of eleven persons in Braintree among whom was "Rachel ye wife of Francis Newcomb."1 |

Research Notes* | What was Rosey's surname?... Her gravestone identified her only as "Rosey, wife of John Leib". Her Find a Grave memorial reported her maiden name as "Funk", but didn't identify her parents. Other researchers who have posted their trees on Ancestry have identified her as "Rosanna Isley", a daughter of Christian Isley. All of these trees we've seen appear to us to have originated, as copies, from the same first tree, and to our dismay, none have contained sources in order to verify relationships. So, who was Rosey, really?...1

William Hooper b. c 1617, d. 5 Dec 1678
Children | 1. | Hannah Hooper b. 31 Mar 1662; From a timing standpoint, Hannah could have been the daughter of William's first wife Elizabeth or his second wife Ruth. Ruth Hooper, according to the source, signed a document for the relinquishment of her dower on 14 Dec 1664, so had likely married William prior to that date. No assignment of any of the children's mother was provided in the source, and our assignments have not yet been proven, although Hannah's mother may be the most uncertain. In this project Hannah has been "assigned" to Ruth, our rationale resting solely on the number of years between the births of the children; three before Hannah and two after1 |
2. | Elizabeth Hooper b. 20 Aug 1665, d. 3 Jan 1699; Although not confirmed in the source, it is suspected by this researcher that Ruth, William's second wife, was Elizabeth's mother because Ruth Hooper signed the document for the relinquishment of her dower on 14 Dec 16641
3. | Thomas Hooper+ b. 2 Apr 1668; Although not confirmed in the source, it is suspected by this researcher that Ruth, William's second wife, was Thomas' mother because Ruth Hooper signed the document for the relinquishment of her dower on 14 Dec 16641
4. | John Hooper+ b. 5 Jul 1670, d. 9 Jan 1708/9; Although not confirmed in the source, it is suspected by this researcher that Ruth, William's second wife, was John's mother because Ruth Hooper signed the document for the relinquishment of her dower on 14 Dec 16641 |
