Wilson, on the 1900 census taken on 6 June 1900 in the household of his sister and brother-in-law, Jennie H. and E. Howard Newlin, at 86 Waite Street, Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Ernest was 26 years of age and worked as a conductor for a street railroad, and Elsie was 20 years old. They had been married for one month and were both able to read, write and to speak English. We note that Elsie was enumerated a second time in 1900. Two weeks later, on 19 June 1900, she was enumerated with her mother in Greensboro, North Carolina as Elsie A. Wood and single, so we don't know where she actually was on those two different enumeration dates.13

Leora was recorded as "Leona", and with the surname Wilson. She was 16 years old and had attended school within the census year. Everyone on the Wilson household was able to read, write and to speak English.16

Carrie was 52 years of age and reported being age 36 when she married for the first time. They rented their home for $20 per month and owned a radio set.17

Ervin was 40 years of age and worked for wages as a Laborer in an industry we were not able to determine, and Alice was 37 years of age. Both were able to read, write and speak English. The couple's eldest daughter, Frances, had married the year before and was enumerated in 1920 with her husband, William D. Cole, in Pleasant Township, Grant County; and the couple's two younger daughters were enumerated with their parents in 1920. Flora and Hazel were ages 15 and 13 years, respectively, able to read, write and speak English, and had attended school within the census year. Ervin's parents, Adaline and James H. Wilson, were enumerated in the first previous household on the same census page as Ervin and Alice.10,11
